QUALIFYING PROGRAM IN DENTISTRY
WHAT IS THE QUALIFYING PROGRAM?
The Qualifying Program is a special university program held over
two academic years leading to the Certificate of Qualification
in Dentistry. The program is intended for graduates of non-accredited
dental programs, i.e. educational programs that have not been
recognized by the
Canadian Dental Association (CDA) or the American Dental Association
Commission on Dental Accreditation. Its purpose is to prepare
students to take the examinations of the National Dental Examining
Board of Canada (NDEB), the same examinations which graduates
of accredited dental programs must take to obtain certification.
Upon successful completion of the Qualifying Program and the
NDEB examinations, the candidate will be eligible for licensure/
registration as a dentist in all provinces in Canada.
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS
In order to be eligible to apply to the Qualifying Program, applicants
must be graduates of a minimum four-year University dental
program, not recognized by the CDA. Transcripts: A notarized
copy of your dental school marks must be submitted with your
application. Dental Diplomas: A notarized copy of your dental
school diploma must be submitted with your application. Documents
that are not in English must be accompanied by a notarized
English
translation.
CITIZENSHIP AND RESIDENCE
Applicants must be Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents of
Canada on or before the deadline date for applications. A photocopy
of proof of Canadian Citizenship or Permanent
Resident Status (Immigration Form 1000 showing date landed) must
be submitted with your application.
