To get a licence for medical practice abroad is not easy. Every country has its own rules for medical licensing and we, try to provide information the maximun information we can. However, by our own opinion, understanding USA rules will help in directioning to other cases.

Below are all the necessary information required for getting american medical license.

At first, you have to get a diploma of Russian medical high-school, registered in World Healthcare Organization. If you have such a diplom or you are studyingin such high-school now, then your main task is succesful passing qualifying tests. There are two ways: if you are an experienced doctor, then you may try to find an American clinic, which would agree to be your potential employer, that will give you an opportunity to pass all the tests without passing of residency in USA. In fact, to realize this very difficult. This way is not convenient also because without preliminary practice under local doctors' leading it's easy to make a serious mistake and ruin your medical career.

Recomendations by American Medical Association and ourselfs are the following:

passing of four tests
studying in residency
passing of one more test
passing test for getting licence in specified state

Educational Comission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), in USA, organizes four tests:

USMLE (United States Medical Licensure Examination) - Step 1 - Test for getting medical license in USA. This is an 8-hour computer test with answers according to preclinical disciplines.
USMLE - Step 2 - Same test, according to clinical disciplines.
Well known TOEFL (Test of English as Foreign Language).
USMLE - Step 3 - Clinical Skills Assessment (CSA). Perhaps, most complex and crafty test, started at summer 1998. Candidate have to accept ten patients-actors, make questionings, survey, talk, properly compile history of disease, and apply preliminary diagnosis. During this tests everything is being checked, from medical knowledges to verbal English and psychology of contact.
First three tests are available in Moscow; last, at this moment, is only available in Philadelphia (USA).
