The academic staff of the faculty counts 25 professors, 125 associated professors, 268 teachers and lectures including 3 D.Sc and 106 Ph.D holders.
The students pass a year cycle of intensive study of Russian (international students) or one of eight foreign languages (russian students), and also upgrade the bases of some other disciplines, profiled to future major courses.
On the completion of preparatory faculty, i.e. after passing all examinations, the students are transferred to one of nine main faculties according to the chosen major.
A unique experience of teaching foreign students to Russian has been developed and successfully applied at the Preparatory faculty. The textbooks written by the teachers of this faculty, have received wide popularity and are used both in Russia and abroad.
The educational process at the faculty is provided with 11 academic departments (Chairs) equipped with modern laboratories, computer classes, video and audio aids.
