Institute of hotel business and tourism

The Institute of hotel business and tourism was set up in PFUR in 1997.
It offers the Diploma Specialist course with the major “hospitality service and tourism”, including the following options:
- Tour operation
- Restaurant service
- Hotel management
The Institute offers full-time day (5 years) and evening (6 years) form of training. At the present time 360 students attend full-time study and 116 students are in the evening department.
There are many prominent professors, lecturers and members of National academy of tourism among the teachers of the Institute, some of them are well-known practitioner of the hospitality industry. The program of training includes special author courses of lectures: “Basics of the professional skill”, “History of european cousine”, “Arrangement of the hotel service”, “Culture of Designing”, “Bevarages of the world”, etc. The Institute organises in a form of a practical classes some touristic fairs and exhibitions, restaurant forums and degustations. Master-classes of russian and foreign teachers of the hospitality service industry are conducted on a regular basis. The program of studies provides for 2 foreign languages and the students received Diploma of interpreter on the graduation.
All class-rooms and computer classes are equipped at a modern level. The Information and analytic center and the Laboratory of information technologies in the field of the hospitality service operate in the Institute.
There is an adaptation course for the beginers (1st year students) that covers the history and traditions of the University, study process and students life of the Institute, students regulations and professional requirements, musical and vocal society, drama and dancing studio, tourism club etc.
The Institute co-operates with russian companies in the hospitality service industry where the students undergo practical classes. Besides, the students can go for short term study courses in France, Swisserland, Ireland, USA, China, Turkey and other countries of the world.
The Institute is the full member of such international professional associations as AMFORHT, EURHODIP, AEHT. The director of the Institute Mrs S.V.Dikhtyar has beeb elected a vice-president on Russia and the Eastern Europe of the International Association on training experts for the hotel business and tourism AMFORHT. The Institute was nominated by the EURHODIP Association to be the best Institution in Europe in the field of tourism in 2003.
The main Institution’s objective is to train experts with theoretical and practical knowledge, who can compete with others in the market of the modern hospitality service industry, who speak foreign languages, who are professionaly competent with a high level of general culture and who are constantly seeking for a professional growth.
