The Faculty exists since the very foundation date of the University. It keeps training over 1200 russian and international students and trainees.The teaching of general and special mathematical, physical and chemical disciplines is conducted by 15 Academic Chairs:

The academic staff consists of 47 professors, 110 associated professors, 30 senior lecturers, 2 assistant lecturers, out of them 47 – D.Sc holders and 118 – Ph.D holders.
The Faculty Scientific Council is the leading body at the faculty. There are specialized dissertation councils on D.Sc and Ph.D degrees in the fields of Maths, Physics and Chemistry.
The students are enrolled to Bachelor and Master programs.
Bachelor courses are in the following majors:
- Physics
- Mathematics. Applied mathematics
- Applied mathematics and computer science
- Mathematics and informatics
- Chemistry
The duration of study is 4 years. The graduates are awarded the B.Sc State Diploma and the Diploma of a secondary school teacher.
Master courses are available for good graduates of Bachelor programs, the duration is 2 years. The graduates are awarded the M.Sc State Diploma and the Diploma of a higher education institution teacher.
The Faculty also performs the training of State Diploma Specialists in the field of “radio-physics and electronics” with the length of study 5 years.
The students who underwent one year preparatory course and continued the intensive study of a foreign language, are awarded the Certificate of interpreter after a special state exam, what gives an opportunity to be employed with international trade organizations and joint companies. Many graduates of the Faculty have become leading experts and managers of big scientific institutions all over the world.
